1981 Horror Movies

Here are the top Horror movies from 1981, along with their trailers.

An American Werewolf in London

This was the first of two werewolf movies released in 1981. I think the other one was better, but "An American Werewolf in London" made more money, so what do I know. To me, it was just as much comedy as horror. Perhaps that's why I didn't care for it that much.

Halloween II

This was one of the best eighties horror movies. As a matter of fact, it is one of the best horror movies I've ever seen. Halloween II actually made a good effort at SCARING the audience, not just shocking them. To me, it's the second best movie of the entire franchise.

Ghost Story

Now this is what a horror movie should be. A good story. Great performances. Ghost Story keeps you enraptured and in chills the entire time. And like many good movies, Ghost Story was based on a classic horror novel by Peter Straub. And it had Fred Astaire to boot.

Friday the 13th Part II

Classic slasher movie. Very little story. Very little acting. A whole lotta killing. While not the best Jason Voorhees movies, if you like seeing stupid teenagers and counselors get hacked to bits, you would probably enjoy Friday the 13th Part 2 .

Omen III: The Final Conflict

To me, The Omen franchise was always one of the better demonic horror movie franchises. However, Omen 3: The Final Conflict was probably the last good movie in this franchise. The Omen movies never did as well as the slasher movies that came out in the 80's. My opinion: To realistic.

The Howling

This film was way better than "American Werewolf." I think the title "The Howling" was a little stupid, so maybe that's why more people were attracted to American Werewolf. But if you want to see a good werewolf movie, definitely rent or buy The Howling .
