Superhero Movies- Top Ten Of All Time
These Are The Best Superhero Movies Ever Made
I know I’m asking for trouble by trying to list the best superhero
movie of all time. But hey, someone has to do it. The most difficult
thing about creating a list of superhero movies is that I am tempted to
favor my favorites. However, I will do my best to remain objective as I
count down to the best superhero movie.
Ever since superheroes first appeared in comics, there have been
superhero movies. Currently, the two major producers of comic books are
Marvel Comics and DC Comics. Both have a track record of producing
outstanding comic book movies, but DC got into the game much earlier
than Marvel.
10. The Incredibles
Not the best Pixar
production, but certainly the best animated superhero movies ever made.
If this was a live-action movie, there would have already been two or
three sequels.
9. Spider-Man
This was the movie that helped America and New York heal after 9/11. The first Spiderman movie was the film that Spiderman fans had been waiting so long for. A fun movie that was fairly loyal to the comic book.
1. The Dark Knight
8. Hellboy: The Golden Army
Unlike other movies, it’s fairly common for a superhero movie sequel to outperform the original. This was the case in Hellboy: The Golden Army. This movie had great action, great effects, and just enough laughs.
7. Superman: The Movie
The original and still the best Superman movie. This film helped make superhero movies a Hollywood staple. Superman: The Movie also proved that films based on super heroes could be major blockbusters.
6. X2: X-Men United
The
opening scene is still one of the best openings I’ve ever seen. While
the rest of the movie was very good, Nightcrawler’s attack on the White
House was fantastic.
5. Spider-Man 2
This was the best of all the Spiderman movies. Spiderman 2
is one of the few superhero movies that I can truly call beautiful. The
two best parts were the runaway subway, and Mary Jane’s discovery of
Spiderman’s alibi.
4. Batman Begins
It
takes a lot for a movie to reboot and revive a dead franchise. I would
have never thought Batman could come back after the debacle of George
Clooney’s Batman and Robin. But Batman Begins proved that you can’t keep the Dark Knight down.
3. Iron Man
Were
it not for another superhero movie that came out the same year, Iron
Man would have been the best movie of 2008. Nonetheless, it was a great
movie with a perfect cast. Only Robert Downey Jr could have pulled off
Tony Stark so well.
2. Batman (1989)
I
first saw this movie when I was twelve years old. This movie had me
buying t-shirts, posters, and baseball caps with the Batman logo. And
it made me a permanent fan of Gotham’s hero. Not to mention Jack
Nicholson was the best villain I’ve ever seen until...
What can I say about this movie that hasn’t been said already? The Dark Knight is not just the best superhero movie ever. To me, this is probably one of the best movies ever made. I've said it before and I’ll say it again. The Dark Knight ranks up there with Titanic, Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. And Heath Ledger deserves an Oscar. Maybe it’s not the best movie this decade, but it is certainly the best movie of 2008.
